Import Zerodha Trades to ArthaLearn — Step-by-Step Guide

Zerodha is India's largest stockbroker with over 7 million active clients. If you trade on Zerodha Kite, importing your tradebook into ArthaLearn's trading journal takes just a few minutes. This guide covers both CSV upload and Kite Connect auto-sync methods.

1. Download Your Tradebook from Zerodha Console

  1. Open console.zerodha.com and log in with your Zerodha credentials.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Reports, then select Tradebook.
  3. Set your preferred date range. You can download up to one year of data at a time.
  4. Select the segment (Equity, F&O, Currency, or Commodity) or leave it as All.
  5. Click the Download button and choose CSV format.

The downloaded CSV file will contain columns for symbol, trade date, exchange, segment, trade type, quantity, price, order ID, and trade ID. ArthaLearn recognizes this format automatically.

2. Upload CSV to ArthaLearn

  1. Sign up for ArthaLearn or log in to your existing account.
  2. Navigate to the Import section from your dashboard.
  3. Select Zerodha as your broker from the dropdown.
  4. Click Upload CSV and select the tradebook file you downloaded.
  5. ArthaLearn will parse the file and show a preview of your trades. Review the data and click Confirm Import.

All fields are automatically mapped. You do not need to manually assign columns. If any rows have issues, ArthaLearn will highlight them for your review before finalizing the import.

3. Kite Connect Auto-Sync (Coming Soon)

ArthaLearn also supports Kite Connect integration for automatic daily trade syncing. Once connected, your trades are pulled directly from Zerodha every day without manual CSV downloads.

How Kite Connect sync works:

  • Authorize ArthaLearn via Zerodha's OAuth flow — your credentials are never stored.
  • The Kite API fetches the current day's executed trades automatically.
  • Tokens refresh daily at 6:00 AM IST, so you may need to re-authorize occasionally.
  • For historical trades, use the CSV method described above.

4. Field Mapping and Data Format

ArthaLearn automatically maps Zerodha's tradebook CSV columns to the correct internal fields. Here is the mapping:

5. Common Issues and Troubleshooting

CSV file not recognized

Make sure you downloaded the file from Zerodha Console (not Kite web). The file must be in CSV format, not Excel. If you opened and re-saved the file in Excel, special characters or date formats may have changed.

Missing trades in the import

Verify that your date range in Console covers the period you need. Zerodha allows downloading up to one year at a time. For longer periods, download multiple files and import them separately.

Duplicate trades after re-import

ArthaLearn uses the trade ID and order ID to detect duplicates. If you re-import the same CSV, existing trades will be skipped. No duplicates will be created.

6. Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I download my Zerodha tradebook?

Log in to Zerodha Console at console.zerodha.com, navigate to Reports > Tradebook, select your date range, and click Download as CSV.

Does ArthaLearn support Kite Connect auto-sync?
